Priya Kalia, PhD

Priya is a corporate and scientific communications consultant with over 18 years’ experience in the Life Sciences. Combining big-picture thinking with specialist insights, she is passionate about helping organisations develop effective communications strategies, and working with both global and regionally-focused teams to ensure the accurate translation of science into words for different target audiences. Priya has a keen interest in genomics and health tech, regenerative medicine, cell therapy, innovative imaging technologies as well as the global start-up ecosystem.

She has worked with a number of notable biotech companies as well as reagent, tool and technology providers, including Abcam, Congenica, GE Healthcare Life Sciences (now Cytiva), Mission Therapeutics and Seven Bridges Genomics, and has provided support to the Alliance for Regenerative Medicine. Priya also has experience in medical communications and medical education, supporting pharma and biotech companies such as AstraZeneca and InCyte. She has lived and worked across several countries including Canada, UK, Sweden, Finland and Myanmar.

In 2014, Priya moved into communications consulting following a medical research career spanning 12 years, working in bone and cartilage tissue regeneration at academic institutions including the University of Cambridge, University College London and King’s College London. During this time she was involved in public engagement initiatives and also had a Royal Society Visiting Fellowship to Columbia University, USA. She currently sits on the Council of the London Materials Society and is a former Chair.

Priya holds a PhD in Regenerative Medicine from University College London and has a BSc (Hons) in Molecular Genetics and Molecular Biology from the University of Toronto, Canada.
